Lemon balm is a bushy perennial plant that has aromatic leaves in the shape of ovals. These leaves have a lemony flavour with a tinge of mint, and the plant itself has a bushy appearance.

It is widely used in aromatherapy products due to its calming and uplifting effect. Additionally, it makes a lovely refreshing herbal tea and is thought to relieve indigestion and cold sores. Lemon balm is a useful kitchen herb that can be used to flavour both sweet and savoury dishes. It also has excellent health benefits.

Identifiable as a member of the mint family by its characteristically square stem, Lemon Balm, like mint, should be grown in a container because it has a rapid growth rate and can easily spread. It is dormant during the winter months but starts growing again in the spring, reaching a height of approximately 50 centimetres and a width of approximately 45 centimetres.
